More Penang food

Anyone who knows David knows what a foodie he is. He has been planning what delicacies to try for over a year now. I think we managed to try most of the famous local dishes.

Day out with Ravi

We hired a nice man called Ravi to take us around Penang for the day. Here are some highlights:

I imagined sugar cane juice to be super sweet, but it was refreshing and not overly sweet. Tasted like apple and celery juice.

E&O

Did I mention how much I loved the E&O? I could live there. Already planning the next visit.

Tea at 1885

I had the great idea of having afternoon tea at the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong. They don't take bookings, so we just turned up on Saturday afternoon expecting to wait a bit for a table. I don't mind waiting a bit, but we would have been waiting for at least 2 hours. No way. Not trying that again.

I was thrilled to find that the E&O did afternoon teas in their lovely 1885 tea room. The good news was that although they were busy, we didn't have to queue. It was a very civilized affair; classical music, well-dressed cliental and a good selection of treats. I gave it 9.5 out of ten. It lost points for limited tea selection (no Ceylon B.O.P. Shocker.) and unnatural jam colour. It made up for it with fresh, warm scones, lovely china and silverware, and original cakes.
